See the miracle -- Seeing the spoken -- new computer research from Israel reveals hidden Biblical connections, decodes complex musical compositions

A revolutionary new software product graphically displays the hidden connection between the Biblical revelation at Mount Sinai and the form of the Hebrew alphabet.

Developed by Israeli electronic systems specialist, Yakov Gugenheim, the new patented process, Roim Kol, shows that an advanced voice to picture mathematical transform reveals that the sounds of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet reveal themselves as the very same pictograms with which the ancient Hebrew script is written even today.

Gugenheim, who in his normal work develops radar and countermeasure defenses for advanced missile systems, was intrigued by a passage in the Bible explaining one of the miracles of the revelation at Sinai. There, the children of Israel are described as "seeing the voices" (Ex. 20:15). Traditional Biblical commentators explain that the children of Israel ‘saw’ what is normally ‘heard’. Other commentators explain that they ‘saw’ the ‘letters’ of the holy language as G-d spoke them from the mountain. Gugenheim, wondering how one could ‘see’ what is ‘heard,’ developed his more sophisticated program starting five years ago after seeing a simpler type of sonograph machine.

The results he obtains are startling. To date 17 of the 22 spoken Hebrew alphabet letters are shown to produce their identical written image, when their names are spoken into the new program. Examples are the Hebrew letters ‘ayin’ (a guttural ‘oy’ sound) and ‘mem’ (an ‘m’ sound) shown here. Research continues to find a connection between the picture and phonetic representations of the remaining five letters that are as yet not accounted for.

Because of the tremendous computing task involved in analyzing high quality vocal data in real time, the program is only now possible, in this decade, with today’s high-speed computers.

‘Note’ mode decodes complex musical compositions

In addition to the remarkable Hebrew speech – pictogram connection, the new program is a major advance forward for music composers and aficionados.

In ‘Note’ mode or ‘Wave’ mode, the user replaces the ‘fire’ display shown here with the spoken word, with a multi-colored display neatly displaying in ascending order 6 octaves of the musical scale. Play the C-major scale into the microphone input, and your computer displays it clearly in living color. Chords are displayed showing the individual notes that make up their harmony, and complex orchestral compositions show the high and low rhythms of the different sections of the orchestra. You can watch on the screen as the strings pick out their notes, or the percussion section members fill the air and frequency spectrum with their unique signatures.

In an interesting twist, the new program may also be used to visualize the song of the dolphins.

A user-friendly version is available for computers with at least 1.3GHz processors running Windows XP. An audio-visual presentation of the research done to date, more information about the uses and technical details of the program and purchase information are available on the Internet at http://www.roimkol.co.il/.
